The central fund formed under the Ministry of Labor and Employment will provide assistance of Tk 21 crore 65 lakh to 3 thousand 428 workers of the export-oriented garment industry. Basically, the money will be given to the sick workers for treatment and their children’s education and to the family members of the deceased workers.
The matter of assistance was approved in the 18th board meeting of the Central Fund held under the chairmanship of State Minister for Labor Mannujan Sufian today at the conference room of the Ministry of Labor and Employment at the Secretariat. 14 crore 66 lakh 50 thousand rupees will be given to 495 workers of BGMEA member organizations and 241 workers of BKMEA member organizations and their family members due to permanent disability and death due to accidents.
Apart from this, 2 thousand 40 workers of BGMEA and BKMEA member institutions will be given medical assistance of 5 crore 68 lakh 16 thousand taka. And 652 children of garment workers will be given 1 crore 3 lakh 40 thousand taka as educational assistance.
